Any body interested in a new team game?
honour rules- teams are fixed at the start. (maybe based on time zones as it helps with discussing tactics) the last game we played i got crushed way way too early. we had a 3 vs 2 vs 2 set up. we made it fixed team members but random countries. the eng/turkey/austria team was too strong and won in no time at all. i was thinking about a 2 vs 2 vs 2 team game with italy left in CD.
italy SC are not unenterable. im playing in a team with my dad.

its the ankara to bulgaria convoy. kind of having a WTF moment.

Can anyone recommend a good history book on WW2 in Europe? not necessarily the causes , but the national strategies and diplomacy used to wage war begining either with the annexation of the sudatenland or the invasion of poland? i'm not as interested in battlefield strategies, but what went on at a higher level.

A couple of features I'd like to see:

# Comments on joinable game listings (eg "No Press Game", "Team Game" or "Merkins only").

# Game names in browser tabs - much more useful than having a bunch of tabs which all say "phpDiplom".

# Simple variants. Fleet Rome springs to mind. Also, No Press variants, enforced by disabling chat options.

# Joining games dependent on reliability ratings, at the discretion of the game creator. If you go to CD in 10% of your games, you ain't joining mine.

Yes, I know kestas has a lot of work ahead of him as it is, but I think these should be quite easy to implement.

This has probably been covered before but for the sake of the noobs: How are nations assigned to the players for each game?

I don't want to worry anyone, but it's a little known fact that Yakov Sverdlov, the guy who co-planned the October Revolution, ordered the execution of the entire Russian royal family and first led the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic had children.... his line eventually merged with that of Pádraig Ó Domhnaill of the Irish National Invincibles.... and his great, great, great grandson is currently playing four games on phpdiplomacy.net....

how does convoying work?

when a unit is built, there is usually a gold star. however, i noticed that when a county gets 3 builds, one of the the three builds is a black star. is there any significance to this?

In the application of diplomacy on facebook you can set the amount of time spent on each phase for a game...would this not be a good idea here too?

Let's assume I update my moves for a season but don't finalize them, will the gamemaster look at my moves and use those? Of will it assume that all my units are holding, therefore, no moves will be made?

In my opinion once you have been designated as 'out' you should not talk to other players about how the game is going. If they are also out or the game has finished then sure, or if you're not talking about the game in hand, such as if you're trying to set up another game, but there shouldn't be any comments from the dead to the living about the game. I might be alone in my views, but who knows: thoughts...
